How to Choose your Skin Foundation

An expert make up starts with the skin foundation. If the skin foundation is not chosen properly, the entire make up is compromised.

The foundation of the make up is essential to set the tone of the entire prettiness making. Chosen properly, the skin foundation will make your skin radiant and will correct the skin imperfections that you may have. The color as well as the texture of the skin foundation is highly important. When shopping for cosmetics you have to bear this in mind.

As a guideline the superlative skin foundations that you should be using should be necessarily hydrating lotions. If the foundation is dry, it will dry your skin even more, and you will experience premature skin aging. Of course, the skin foundation should be first of all suitable for your skin type and then for your skin tone.

Test your skin to see which your skin type is. It’s not sufficient to look in the mirror and claim you have dry, mixed or greasy skin. This may be a tricky thing: there is greasy skin that is dehydrated and looks just like dry skin, or dry skin that is well hydrated which may appear oily. Also, mixed skin is both dry and oily in some parts of the face. So, the best thing is to test your skin before buying any type of foundation. Once you know your skin type, you can purchase the skin foundation that is appropriate.

The color of the foundation should be close to the color of your face. Many women test the foundation on their hands, but this is not the best way to see if the color is suitable, as your face may be one or two shades darker due to the sun exposure. So, when you test the color of your foundation, you should test it on your chin. The color should be about the same as your natural color. However, you may want to darken or lighten your skin, so you can get a darker or a lighter color by one shade or two. Just make sure that when you apply this on your face, you also do it on your cleavage and neck, otherwise your look will be ridiculous.

Apply the skin foundation starting from your chin and going upwards. Use a smooth brush, which won’t leave any traces, or you may as well use your fingers. Make sure the foundation is applied equally on each part of your face as well as neck and cleavage.

When all's said and done, the right skin foundation will help you get the perfect make up you want. Apply the foundation first, and then employ the other cosmetics as well.
